AVL Completes NTC Acquisition


The Management of NTC Powertrain is pleased to confirm the sale of NTC Powertrain to the AVL Group of Graz Austria was finalised on 3rd February 2011.


The acquisition will bring significant benefits to both NTC and AVL with NTC leveraging the capabilities and global infrastructure and resources of AVL. Prospects in the transmission space are currently very attractive with major global OEM’s channelling significant development funds into new improved transmissions for conventionally powered vehicles as well as hybrid and alternate energy systems.

AVL is the world's largest independent company for development, simulation and testing technology of powertrains (hybrid, combustion engines, transmission, electric drive, batteries and software) for passenger cars, trucks and large engines. The high-tech company AVL employs 4.300 people worldwide with revenue in the region of € 600 million.


NTC Powertrain will continue to operate with business as usual from its facilities in Castle Hill NSW and Coventry England. Changes to Management see former CEO and President Richard Tamba taking on the position of Product Line Manager, Passenger Car Transmissions for AVL List GmbH while Jonathan Seddon has been appointed Managing Director of NTC Powertrain. Both Richard and Jonathan will be working together to develop, grow and strengthen the AVL passenger car transmission business.
